Calming your nerves for networking events

We all worry and get upset from time to time. It’s a normal part of life. But how do we deal with those feelings?

First, it is good to remind ourselves that most of our stress comes from the way we respond to life and not the way life is. If we can adjust our attitude, it can surely help.

The first step is to identify why you feel nervous: getting curious about why you’re feeling anxious will help you in seeing your situation in a more optimal way.

Turn uncertainty into certainty!

Change the story and start interpreting your current situation a little differently to take the pressure away by looking at the worst case scenario in a different and lighter way. Now ask yourself: So what? So what if that happens? What’s the worst that can happen?

It’s not like it’s the end of the world. You probably won’t even care about this a year from now. So why worry? Why get nervous?

Take sone small steps: fully focus your attention on the steps you will take, not on your end goal. Have fun with the process and learn to laugh at yourself when things don't go as planned.
